Below this note you will find a letter from Linda Valentine, the Executive Director of the General Assembly Mission Council, with regard to an action taken by that Council last week. The Council is recommending to the General Assembly that the PCUSA divest itself of its investment holdings in Caterpillar, Motorola Solutions, and Hewlett-Packard because of the way that products of these companies are used in the ongoing strife between Israel and the Palestinians. Of course, the recommendation about Caterpillar hits close to home for Central Illinoisans. If you have questions about the process used by the committee recommending this to the Council, you can contact the Mission Responsibility Through Investment Committee directly or contact the person identified to speak to the media in the information below. I hope that this information provided by our denomination will be helpful to you as you talk with members of your congregation who might have questions about this action.
